What’s New at Mr Card Singles: More Cards, More Accessories and Plenty Still to Come
The last month has been a busy one behind the scenes at Mr Card Singles.
A lot has changed on the site recently, and while some of it is fairly obvious when you visit, quite a bit of it has been the less glamorous stuff that hopefully makes the shop easier to use, easier to trust, and a bit better every time you come back.
So rather than post another quick “new stock is live” update, I thought I’d give a proper rundown of what’s been going on.
Another 10,000+ Magic: The Gathering cards added
The biggest update is probably the easiest one to spot: another 10,000+ MTG cards have been added to the website.
We’ve had a lot of these cards sorted and organised for a while, so it’s been really satisfying to finally get them uploaded and available to buy.
Mr Card Singles is still very much built around Magic: The Gathering singles, and that isn’t changing. The goal is to keep building a useful, varied catalogue across as many sets and eras as possible, rather than only focusing on the newest releases.
There’s still plenty more to come too. Scanning, sorting and uploading cards is an ongoing job, so expect the catalogue to keep growing over time.
Dragon Shield sleeves are now live
We’ve also taken another step into accessories, with our first range of Dragon Shield Matte sleeves now available.
There are currently 16 colours in stock, all priced at £8.99 per box, and we’ll be watching which colours people go for most as we decide what to restock and expand next.
If there’s a particular Dragon Shield colour you’d like to see added, or one you’d like us to keep more stock of, let us know. The plan is to build the range gradually based on what people actually want rather than just filling shelves for the sake of it.
More sealed product and accessories
Singles will always be the main part of Mr Card Singles, but the shop is slowly becoming more than just cards.
We’ve started adding more sealed Magic: The Gathering products and accessories, including booster products, deck boxes, sleeves and other useful bits for players.
The aim isn’t to suddenly turn into a massive general games retailer. It’s more about making the site a more useful place for Magic players.
If you’re already buying singles for a deck, it makes sense to be able to pick up sleeves, sealed product or a few extras at the same time.
That’s the direction we’re heading in.
A lot of website improvements
There have also been quite a few changes to the website itself.
Some of these are small, some are boring, but together they make a big difference.
We’ve improved the way collections are organised, cleaned up navigation, added clearer policies, built a proper FAQ section, added a dedicated Card Condition Guide, and improved the footer so important links and information are much easier to find.
A lot of this work has been about making the site feel more complete and giving customers clearer information before ordering.
For example, if you want to know how we grade Near Mint, Light Play, Moderate Play or Heavy Play cards, there’s now a full guide for that rather than leaving you to guess.
The same goes for shipping, returns and general order questions.
It might not be the most exciting kind of update, but it’s the sort of thing that makes the shop better in the long run.
Expanding our distributor relationships
Another thing we’ve been working on is expanding our supply options.
Mr Card Singles already works with a distributor, but relying on one supplier can make stock availability difficult, particularly with popular Magic: The Gathering sealed releases where allocations can be limited.
We’re now actively working on building relationships with additional distributors so we can improve availability, bring in more sealed MTG products, and continue expanding the accessories side of the business.
It won’t all change overnight, but hopefully this means a better and more consistent range over time.
More social content too
We’ve also been putting more effort into Facebook and Instagram.
That’s where we’ll usually post the quicker updates, new stock arrivals, bigger card uploads, events, restocks and the odd behind-the-scenes look at what we’re working on.
The website blog will probably stay a bit more like this: longer updates when there’s actually something worth talking about.
If you want to keep up with the smaller day-to-day updates, following Mr Card Singles on social media is probably the easiest way.
Still focused on MTG singles - just growing around them
The main thing hasn’t changed.
Mr Card Singles is still primarily about Magic: The Gathering singles.
That’s what the business started with, and it’s still the part we spend the most time sorting, scanning, pricing, uploading and packing.
What is changing is everything around it.
- More accessories.
- More sealed MTG products.
- More stock.
- A better website.
- Better supply options.
- And hopefully a better overall experience when you order from us.
The long-term goal is fairly simple: to build Mr Card Singles into a really useful UK Magic: The Gathering store where you can find the singles you need, pick up accessories and sealed products, and know what to expect when you order.
There’s still a lot to do, but the shop is moving in the right direction.
Thanks to everyone who has ordered, followed, shared, messaged or simply checked out the site recently. It genuinely helps us keep building.
And as always, there’s more to come.
